Welcome to Venus Elementary School!

Meet Your Principal!

Hello Venus Elementary families!

My name is Lana Whitworth, and I am incredibly honored to serve as the principal of Venus Elementary School. I am a proud graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, and I later earned my Master’s degree in Administrative Leadership from Lamar University.

With 26 years of experience in education, including five years as an assistant principal and two years as a principal, I have a deep passion for learning, leading, and building strong school communities. In 2021, my family and I made the joyful decision to return to North Texas when my husband of 36 years accepted the calling to become the pastor at Venus Bible Church.

Family is the heart of who I am. I’m blessed with four wonderful grown children, two daughters-in-law, two sons-in-law, and seven amazing grandchildren: Addi, Jaxon, Ashlynn, Emma, Cade, Millie, and our little caboose, Drew. They are truly the best part of my life and constant reminders of why I do what I do.

I absolutely love being part of Venus ISD—a district that places students at the center of everything and values the hard work and dedication of its staff. I’m excited to build strong relationships with our students, families, and staff as we continue to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment together.

Please don’t be a stranger, stop by and say "Hi!" I would love to meet you and your family as we work together to make this a fantastic school year!
