I am in my second year as the assistant principal at Venus Elementary School, following four years as an English teacher and department chair in Crowley and a long career as a teacher, writer, and minister.
I grew up in West Virginia and attended Paden City High School ('87) and Marshall University before moving to attend the University of North Alabama ('92) where I graduated with a double major in Radio-Television-Film and Public Relations. I worked in both radio and television as a reporter and news producer before entering a career in ministry that took me to Austin and Fort Worth, as well as on trips to Canada, Lithuania, and India. My teaching experience included work in both elementary and middle schools, during which I added a Master's of Education degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.
My wife and I and have two children, one in high school and the other in college. I coach a special needs baseball team and enjoy music (especially Journey and Copland), literature (especially John Steinbeck and Pearl Buck), history (Robert Massie and Stephen Ambrose), and exercise. In the summer of 2017, I finished visiting all 50 states.
I joined Venus ISD in the summer of 2016 and I'm here to help make sure the students of Venus receive the very best education possible. "The sky's the limit if you believe you can fly."
